Street art project KONT turns sea containers into art objects

„KONT will be in action during two weeks at Tallinn’s Fishing Harbour (Kalasadam), where artists take turns to work on their pieces and hold artist talks after completion,“ says Kumu art museum curator Maria-Kristiina Soomre. „In total a complete installation will be created that will travel the world later on separate containers.“

Well-known graffiti legends and young hopeful artists from Italy, Brazil, France, Poland and Estonia will be involved in turning the containers into art pieces.

KONT is being led by artist and art organiser Jaanika Okk, designers-artists Uku Sepsivart, Carl-Robert Kagge, Uku-Kristjan Küttis and Kumu art museum curator Maria-Kristiina Soomre. Architect of the project is Ott Kadarik.

The birth of street art and top quality final result can be followed at Fishing Harbour (Kalasadam) until 21 August 2011. The programme of artist talks and short reviews of artists can be found at www.kont.ee and in Facebook.
